Yolanda Banks McCoy joined HighWater Limited (“HighWater) in September 2014. HighWater was established in January 2007 and is currently licensed by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority to carry on the business of company management. HighWater’s core business is the provision of independent directors and related services to the alternative investment industry.
Yolanda has over 20 years of financial services experience and, prior to joining HighWater, was Head of Investments & Securities Division of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA), since November 2006. In this capacity, Yolanda was responsible for effective regulation and supervision of hedge funds, fund administrators and securities investment companies operating in or from the Cayman Islands as well as ensuring compliance and conduct in accordance with Cayman Islands regulatory laws and CIMA’s policies and procedures. Yolanda was also responsible for directing an integrated risk-based supervisory framework of continuous monitoring and inspection of licensed fund administrators and securities investment companies, and for providing leadership to a team of 39 persons within the Investment and Securities Division. Yolanda often assisted with providing advice and guidance to the Authority’s Board of Directors and the industry on developments within the alternative investment industry. Yolanda worked extensively with global regulators, industry stakeholders and regularly represented, and made presentations on behalf of the Authority at various forums and conferences both locally and overseas. In 2012, Ms. McCoy was co-chair of AIFMD/SIBL Working Group which comprised senior members of the public and private sectors, and was involved with the corporate governance reform of the Cayman Islands fund sector.
Yolanda holds a MBA with distinction in Banking and Finance from the University of Wales, Bangor, and a Bachelor of Science in International Business from the University of Tampa, Florida. She is Chairman of Social & Events on AIMA Cayman Executive Committee, a member of the Board of Trustees of the International College of the Cayman Islands, Chair of the European International Relations Working Group of Cayman Finance and serves on the 100 Women in Hedge Funds Cayman Chapter Main and Education Committees.
